Colorado Avalanche x Patrick Roy [1995-2003]
I've suddenly realized this is no longer a blog and has now turned into a jersey site. Which means I have no life. But I find it therapeutic and enjoy sharing my latest pickups to whomever visits this page. Anyhow, today's entry is a Colorado Avalanche Patrick Roy jersey, someone I've finally added to the collection.
The jersey is made by Pro Player, the uniform manufacturer for the 1999-00 season, and later customized with one of my favourite goaltenders. The numbers are made of three different types of twill; flat tackle twill, glacier twill, and a specialty silver twill I still don't know the name of that feels likes soft grip tape. The letters are also made of glacier twill and applied to a mesh plate.
Born on 5 October 1965 in Quebec City, QC, Patrick Roy was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1984 NHL Draft. He played his first full year in the 1985-86 season winning the Stanley Cup and the Conn Smythe Award as the Playoff MVP. He would win his second Stanley Cup Championship and second Conn Smythe Award in 1993. Several months into the 1995-96 season, he was traded to the Colorado Avalanche and helped a then relocated franchise win their first Stanley Cup Championship.
St. Patrick won another Stanley Cup in 2001 and earn his third Conn Smythe Award, the most for any player. Two seasons later, Patrick Roy retired from playing professional hockey and now serves as the head coach of the Colorado Avalanche after an eleven year absence from the game.
