HC Asiago x Daniel Sullivan [2012-13]

Today's jersey entry is a very special one. This comes all the way from Italy where an elementary/high school classmate of mine, Daniel Sullivan, plays professional hockey with HC Asiago. I found out he was in the Supercoppa Italiana [Italian Supercup] tournament and wanted to know where I can buy his jersey. He was gracious enough to send me one courtesy of him and his team.


Upon seeing this jersey, I was off my feet. This uniform is amazing! Graced with stars on the sleeves and waist with numerous logos left, right, and centre - it reminds me of those Nascar pacers or F1 vehicles. I'm really amped on the amount of detail thrown into it. Each graphic is dyed into the jersey, so they won't peel or crack. The boxed dual coloured ID on the back stands out very well too.


This letter was also thrown in there, which is a wonderful keepsake. Some of my earliest memories were inviting him to my birthday parties, but he'd always be late because he had a hockey game. I was always cool with it because I knew he'd be pro anyway. I'm always down to support the locals and this is greatly appreciated. Thanks again, Dan.


Born on 26 April 1987 in Toronto, Canada, he attended Niagara University playing hockey for the Purple Eagles between 2005-09. In 144 games played, he tallied 30 points with 7 goals and 23 assists.


He then played 5 games for the Reading Royals of the ECHL at the end of their 2008-09 season before heading out to his motherland where he'd suit up for SG Cortina [2009-10], HC Val di Fassa [2010-12], and now with HC Asiago [2012-Present].



In his first full season with HC Asiago, Daniel Sullivan netted 7 goals and added 11 assists for a total of 18 points. He helped bring the team to the Supercoppa Italiana and capture the championship by beating HC Valpellice. For the 2013-14 season, he scored 30 points [11 goals, 19 assists] in a total of 40 games played.



Since 2011, Daniel Sullivan has represented Team Italy in the Euro Ice Hockey Challenge and the 2013 IIHF First Division World Championships.

Miami Heat x Shaquille O'Neal [2004 - 2008]

I'm not the biggest fan of this team, but this is still something I could not pass up on because of the amazing deal I got it for and the player himself. Today's entry is an authentic Shaquille O'Neal Miami Heat jersey made by Reebok. This post will mainly focus on his 4 year tenure in south beach.


This is the road style he wore with the Miami Heat and is made of a very shiny polyester material. There is a bit of snagging, but it can easily be overlooked. The details are embroidered in two layer tackle twill in white and black. Definitely kept in great shape within the past 6-10 years.


Born in Newark, New Jersey, Shaquille Rashaun O'Neal attended Louisiana State University and became a 2x SEC Player of the Year award winner as well as a 2x All-American and the 1992 Nat'l Player of the Year. In 1992, he was selected first overall in the NBA Draft for the Orlando Magic. He would collect the Rookie of the Year Award averaging 23.4 PPG and 13.9 RPG. Furthermore, he was voted into the 1993 NBA All-Star Game, one of the few rookies to receive that honour. In the 1994-95 season, he led the league in scoring [29.3 PPG] and would help take the franchise to their first NBA Finals appearance where they were swept by the Houston Rockets.


In the start of the prime of his career, the 7'1" center would sign with the Los Angeles Lakers. While averaging over 20 PPG and 10 RPG with stellar field goal percentage, it wouldn't take long for the purple and gold to achieve championship success. In 1999, Phil Jackson took over as head coach and with the assistance of the emerging young star, Kobe Bryant, the team won three straight NBA Championships between 2000 to 2002. He would continue to lead the Lakers for 2 more seasons before departing in 2004.


In his 8 seasons spent in LA, he was a 7x All-Star, 3x All-Star Game MVP, 3x NBA Champion and a 3x NBA Finals MVP.


In the 2004 offseason, Shaq was shipped off to the Miami Heat in one the biggest trades in league history. Averaging another 20-10 season, he made his 12th consecutive start in the All-Star Game and was voted second in the MVP race. The Miami Heat made a run to the Eastern Conference Championship only to lose to the Detroit Pistons.


The 2005-06 season would see a dramatic change for Miami by signing and trading for a veteran roster around The Big Aristotle and the team's future franchise player, Dwyane Wade. Although he averaged fewer numbers in points and rebounds, he would turn them around in the playoffs, averaging 19 points and 9 rebounds per game shooting an impressive 60% from the floor. He would capture his fourth NBA Championship against the Dallas Mavericks in a 4-2 series win.



In next two seasons, O'Neal's performance began to spiral downwards. Not only was he averaging the lowest numbers of his career, he was plagued by injuries and didn't make the cut for the Eastern Conference All-Star team. Midway through the 2007-08 season, he was traded to the Phoenix Suns. In 2009, he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers playing alongside LeBron James. After falling in the Eastern Conference semifinals, he signed as a free agent to the Boston Celtics for the 2010-11 season. Shortly after they were eliminated from the playoffs, The Diesel officially retired from the game after nineteen seasons.


Shaquille O'Neal represented Team USA twice in his career. The first was in 1994 FIBA World Championships where he captured a gold medal with a perfect 8-0 record. The second stint was in the 1996 Summer Olympics where he would win another gold medal in another sweeping fashion.

The skate shop was having a deal on Independent Trucks and as long as I'm not paying retail, might as well get a jump start on my next setup for summer. This would be my second set of Indies [my last ones were Stage 8s or 9s back in 2009] and I think I'd give them another try considering all the good reviews I've caught up on.

One The Spot w/ Andrew Reynolds

Toronto Maple Leafs x Frank Mahovlich [1967 - 1970]

Slowly rebuilding my jersey hoarding, this one particular piece barely cost me anything - except time for that matter. Today's jersey entry is Frank Mahovlich of the Toronto Maple Leafs. One of the greatest left wingers of all time, it seemed like a natural selection to own this jersey. This was the style they wore en route to their 1967 Stanley Cup Championship.


This jersey was picked up in a trade and the numbers were a birthday gift from my coworker. I chose to go with The Big M because you never see too many of them around. Other players in mind were Dave Keon, Johnny Bower, Tim Horton, and Terry Sawchuk.
This style was first introduced for the 1967 playoffs and remained on the front until 1970. It was revived onto the uniforms as the third jersey for the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2011.


Shortly after acquiring the jersey, I picked up this custom New Era fitted that goes perfectly well with the colours.


Born in Timmins, ON, Francis William Mahovlich officially joined the Toronto Maple Leafs for the 1957-1958 season scoring 20 goals and 16 assists for a 36 point rookie campaign and earning him the Calder Trophy as the NHL's best rookie. Next season in 1959, he made his first All-Star Game appearance.
In 1961, he led the league in scoring and set a Maple Leafs franchise record with 48 goals - an accomplishment which stood for 21 years. He finished the regular season with 84 points.


In the 1961-62 season, already an offensive threat, he helped take the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Stanley Cup Finals. Pitted against the Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto took the series 4-2. Frank Mahovlich would score 12 points in that postseason with 6 goals and 6 assists.
The Toronto Maple Leafs would capture the 1963 and 1964 Stanley Cup Championships, proving themselves to be a powerful team that decade.


For the 1966-67 season, the Toronto Maple Leafs made another appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals against the Montreal Canadiens. It was the final championship game played in the "Original Six" era and the youthful French-Canadian squad were the heavy favourites to beat their aging Canadian rivals. However, with a 10 point performance by Frank Mahovlich, the Leafs captured hockey's holy grail winning the series 4-2.


Midway through the 1967-68 season, he was traded to the Detroit Red Wings. In the 1970-71 season, he was shipped off to the Montreal Canadiens and win the Stanley Cup twice more. He then detracted to the World Hockey Association for four more years before retiring in 1978.


Frank Mahovlich represented Canada twice in his career. The first time was in the 1972 Summit Series against USSR registering 1 goal and 1 assist. He played in the second Summit Series in 1974 in a losing effort against the Soviet Union.

1181 games, 533 goals, 570 assists, Calder Trophy [1958], 6x Stanley Cup Champion [1962-64, 1967, 1971, 1973], 15x NHL All-Star [1959-74], 3x NHL First All-Star Team [1961, 1963, 1973], Hockey Hall of Fame inductee [1981], The Hockey News' 100 Greatest Players [#27].
On 3 October 2001, opening night of the regular season, the Toronto Maple Leafs organization honoured his #27.

In this case, I tripped down to Blue Tile Lounge and took advantage of their discounts and picked up the Zero Anthology box set containing their first 4 full length videos, from Thrill of It All to New Blood and the 2006 promo. Money well spent!

Eric Clapton x MTV Unplugged

Sorry for the lack of posts these past several weeks. With school and work and laziness and the holiday meshed together, you tend to forget things. These next few posts are just some gifts I was given by my family for my birthday/Christmas. Gift giving in over for me now that I'm way too old for that. But first up is a birthday gift my younger brother gave me. It's the Eric Clapton MTV Unplugged Deluxe album that came out not too long ago. An amazing artist with an amazing instrument recording some of the best songs of all time is a winner.

Green Day x American Idiot x Special Edition

The first of two Christmas presents my younger brother gave me was the special edition of Green Day's American Idiot. This was a rare one to find and I was surprised he grabbed a used copy for me at Sonic Boom. Not only was the album pretty sweet, but he threw in a gift card for that vintage record/movie warehouse.

1988 Slam Dunk Championship x Michael Jordan

The third gift he gave me is this framed vintage Nike poster of Michael Jordan from the 1988 Slam Dunk Championship. Still wrapped with the corners in cardboard, I really can't decidded on the a spot to hang this.

Buzz Lightyear: Space Ranger

My older brother gave this Toy Story Buzz Lightyear as a birthday gift, but decided to open it on Christmas so I wouldn't feel left out. This is definitely one of the best gifts I've ever had! I've always wanted this as a kid and, now that I'm old, finally own one.


A complete replica of what was presented in the 1995 film, this figure does exactly what the commercial says.
