Los Angeles Trip; Day One

Other than my parents, brothers, two of my BBM contacts, and my 20-something followers on Twitter - no one else knows I'm in Los Angeles. Although there is no place like home, my family in The City of Angels have easily made this my second city. Within the first full day here, we headed to the popular tourist spots, ate authentic local food which is unimaginable from where I come from, and met awesome personalities while doing a bit of shopping. Enjoi the pics.

The first spot we hit was Grauman's Chinese Theatre. This is the theatre where all the big movies premiere including the Star Wars trilogy back in 1977.

In my graduation photo, the caption below my picture reads "Life is but a dream," after seeing Jim Carrey write the beginning part of the poem in cement. As a Canadian, I had to see his prints. Here are a bunch of other prints among the hundreds in the ground I've always wanted to see.

Here's a legendary skate spot I had to check out in person; Hollywood High. Security at the school is heavy. One step behind the fence and I was immediately stopped. I got the pass since I wasn't carrying a skateboard. Pretty rad.

After seeing Hollywood Blvd., my cousin Tyler and I headed down Fairfax Ave., where they have store after store of skate shops. We met Nicky Diamonds, Diamond Supply Co. founder at the flagship store. I think I annoyed him with my fanboy attitude, but he's a super cool dude. It was ironic how I was wearing an LA Diamond shirt too.

At the Supreme store, I met Anthony Van Engelen. One of the raddest pros for Vans and Alien Workshop. See the figure in the background? That was Mos Def! He was also in the shop trying on $500 jackets. I asked for a picture, but he denied and wanted to be a regular citizen for the day. I had to respect it, but I don't think I'll wash my hands ever again.

Back in 2009, AVE won Best Video Part at the 11th Annual Transworld Awards.

I thought this sign was pretty funny. Note how us canucks spell it "neighbours."

Just for add-ons, this is the street corner where Notorious BIG was murdered.

At the end of the day, I bought this Hall of Fame x Huf collabo t-shirt for 50% off. Something like this in Canada would go for triple the amount I paid for.

Stay tuned for more pics. I believe we're going to Venice Beach soon. But unfortunately, my beach bod is on hold. Stay tuned, everyone!
