Foo Fighters Wasting Light Tour 2011

This passed Tuesday night, my brother and I went down to the Air Canada Centre to watch Foo Fighters - one of the greatest rock bands of all time - on their world tour. I've been following the band since I was 8 years old and I finally had the chance to see them perform live and up close. It was an unforgettable experience.

Furthermore, the story of how I obtained $0.00 floor level seating is synonymous to being a fable. But if you're interested, all ya gots to do is ask because, not to sound so cocky, I love telling it! Here are a ton of pictures I took during this once in a lifetime experience. Enjoi.

We took a spot right up against the railing beside a bridge linking the two platforms. Dead centre of the arena was more than a decent spot for next several hours.

Above is our original ticket for the concert.

For $55.75, we were placed in the upper corner of the arena, rearview seating.

Toronto's own, F-cked Up were the first performers. There has been a whole lotta buzz about this band and they didn't let me down at all. I think they're one of the few new bands that'll keep the hard rock genre alive.

Guitarist Ben Cook, bassist Sandra Miranada, and lead singer Damian Abraham.

Jonah Falco on drums.

Guitarists Mike Haliechuk and Josh Zucker.

Damian Abraham went nuts as he came off the stage and sang in the crowd for their entire set.

You can definitely say this performance was f-cked up.

Along with the t-shirt I'm wearing further up the page, I grabbed a F-cked Up tee as well. Unfortunately, it fell on the floor a few times and got f-cked up. I also don't think I'm able to wear it in public because the graphic is too... f-cked up. What a clever band name.

Montreal's The Doughboys took the stage afterwards. Above are guitarist Johnathon Cummins [far left] and lead singer/guitarist John Kastner. Below are drummer Brock Pytel and bassist Jon Bonhead.

It must be a bit confusing being in a band with three people sharing the same name. But they totally rocked the house and I regret not buying a t-shirt.

Now on to the headliners...

This was how the stage looked moments before the headliners performed. It was an amazing buildup.

The Foo Fighters came up at 9pm and opened with the leading track on their latest album; Bridge Burning. It blew the roof off!

Frontman, lead vocals and guitarist; Dave Grohl!!

Bassist and original member; Nate Mendel!!

Drums; Taylor Hawkins!!

Lead guitarist; Chris Shiflett!!

Third guitarist and original member; Pat Smear!!

Touring Keyboardist and accordian player; Rammi Jaffee!!

Here are a few of the 150 pics I took that night. I would post them all, but I'd be on the computer all day. So I chose the ones I think were best to blog:

Dave Grohl and Chris Shiflett were having a guitar battle in the middle of the show. It was off the chain!

Dave Grohl on screen backstage before the encore. He is asking how many more songs the audience wants to hear.

He came out by himself and sang a few hard songs in a soft acoustic [unplugged, if you may] tone to calm down the crowd.

I can't remember the order, but I know he sang Wheels, Times Like These, and Best of You.

The rest of the band jumped in unexpectedly to continue playing the hard rock songs and he quickly ran down the runway onto the main stage.

The band finished off with their all-time fan favourite classic song, Everlong.

This was such an amazing rollercoaster ride. They performed all of my favourite songs and did not disappoint whatsoever. I'm getting goosebumps just remembering the opening notes to their first song and I still have that awestruck feeling of knowing how close I was to the band. Foo Fighters, 'til we meet again...
