Vans x Rowley Pro

The Rowley Pro shoes were originally sold between 1999-2007 and always wanted one since I first started skating. Fast forward 5 years later and these are back and better than before. Thankfully, Vans' Black Friday sale allowed me to scoop these up for a very good price and I can't wait to skate them.

I really wish I didn't lose the pic of Geoff Rowley and I, but I'm stoked I still have a Thrasher magazine signed by him.

Adidas x Mark Gonzales

Here's a pretty awesome Mark Gonzales tee I grabbed at the Black Friday sale at Adidas. Couldn't let this one go and I might go back to buy a pair of skate shoes as well.

I also purchased a nice recyclable tote bag for half off the original price tag. Now these, I'll get more of.

There are so many amazing video parts from this guy, but I'd might as well post the one that started them all.

Philadelphia Phillies x Chase Utley [2003-15]

I know my blogging has been pretty scarce lately dealing with school and all, but at least my latest entry is about a jersey. This Philadelphia Philles Chase Utley uniform is something I completely forgot I owned and now that I found it - it's worth writing about.

I purchased this a while ago at a store closing sale and although the newer replica baseball jerseys aren't the best quality nor my favourite, you can never beat a good deal. This is the home white style the team wears with screen printed tackle twill numbers and letters on the front and back. Seeing how Chase Utley is still active in Major League Baseball, this entry will be very short.

Born in Pasadena, CA, Chase Utley was drafted 15th overall by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2000 Amateur Draft and made his professional debut in 2003. His first at-bat was a grand slam and became a permanent club member the next season solidifying the 2B position. In 2006, he made an appearance to his first All-Star Game and earned his first Silver Slugger Award.

In 2008, he helped the Phillies to their first World Series appearance since 1993. They ended up winning the Fall Classic 4-1 against the Tampa Bay Rays with Chase Utley hitting a low .168 with 2 home runs in that 5 game bout. But at the end of it all, he finally had the chance to hoist The Commissioner's Trophy in his tenth season in Philadelphia.

As of the 2013 MLB season, Chase Utley has 1,410 hits, 217 HR, 808 RBI, 129 SB, and a batting average of .287.

Career Highlights and Achievements:
5× All-Star [2006–10]
4× Silver Slugger Award winner at second base [2006–09]
World Series Champion [2008]
Sports Illustrated MLB All-Decade Team [2009]
Fielding Bible Award [2010]

New York Giants x Willie Mays [1954]

Hello readers/collectors/sports fans, It's been a while since my last jersey entry. Here's something for the baseball addicts out there; it's a custom made New York Giants uniform, "The Say Hey Kid," Willy Mays. There's a little bit of a story behind this if you read further below. All in all, this is one player anyone should get.

I bought this a blank from a graphic design studio and since it's practically a costume, it draws some differences from the authentics. It was blank on the back and had it crested after the greatest Giants player of all time. The numbers are also off, no doubt - but the designer only had hockey team fonts. I confirmed to go forward this because it's the closest I could get to resembling the 1954 look.

To add some good measure, I picked up this New Era San Francisco Giants fitted and it matches really well. Wanting to represent both ends of his career on each coast, this seemed most appropriate.

Born Willie Howard Mays, Jr. on 6 May 1931 in Westfield, AL, he signed with the New York Giants in 1951 and helped the team advance to the World Series. At the the end of the year, he won the NL Rookie of The Year Award with a .274 BA, 68 RBI and 20 HR. He missed most of the 1952 and 1953 seasons due to his military involvement.

He would return to baseball before the 1954 season, what many consider to be his best year. He was voted into his first All-Star Game and a trip to the World Series where he would make one the most unbelievable plays of all time, now known as "The Catch," and eventually sweeping the Cleveland Indians. Batting a league leading .345 with 41 HR, he was names the NL Most Valuable Player.

When the franchised moved to San Francisco in 1958, so did Willie Mays. While playing on the west coast, he became the ninth player to hit four home runs in one game [1961] and help the Giants appear in the 1962 World Series. He earned his second MVP Award [1965] and collected his 600th home run in 1969. In 1970, he became a member of the 3000th hit club during a game against the Montreal. In 1972, he was traded to the New York Mets where they'd advance to the 1973 World Series. Game 7 of that series would be the last professional game he'd play in.
Upon retiring, his batting average was .302 with 660 HR and 1, 903 RBI. He currently holds the major league record of 7,095 outfield putouts.

Career Highlights and Achievements:
NL Rookie of the Year [1951]
2× NL MVP [1954, 1965]
World Series champion [1954]
24× All-Star [1954-73; two games were played between 1959-62]
12× Gold Glove Award winner [1957-68]
2× MLB All-Star Game MVP [1963, 1968]
Roberto Clemente Award [1971]
Jersey #24 retired by San Franciso Giants in his honour
National Baseball Hall of Fame inductee [1979]
Major League Baseball All-Century Team
Major League Baseball All-Time Team

HUF x Ramondetta Pro

Peter Ramondetta's first pro model shoe from HUF released earlier this summer. Thankfully, Switch Skate and Snow just had a massive sale this passed weekend and I was fortunate to grab a pair of these! So stoked!

What really stands out to me is the pattern on the outsole. Something you never see everyday. If anyone is interested in getting a pair for themselves, I suggest buying these in your true shoe size.

Converse Skateboarding x Star Player

I also picked up an amazing pair of Converse shoes. I've always wanted to give their skate line a try and by the time next skate season hits, these will be on my feet. I suggest buying these a full size down from what you normally wear.

Apex 1 x Miami Dolphins

Picked up this brand new and vintage snapback to add in my collection for the best price imaginable. Go Dolphins!

Pretty awesome Purveyor Wheels tee picked up from Blue Tile Lounge. Always thought it was a pretty funny concept and it's always good to represent Canadian brands.

Toronto Maple Leafs 2013-14 Home Opener

This passed Saturday, my buddy, Jesse, hooked me up with a ticket to my first Maple Leafs game at the Air Canada Centre and it was definitely one of the best experiences ever.

Again, thanks so much to Jesse and to everyone else that made this memorable.

Great seats, great people, and to cap it all off; Toronto won 5-4 in the shoot out.

New York Yankees x Babe Ruth [1932]

Welcome again to another jersey entry. Showcased here is a custom made New York Yankees Babe Ruth jersey. This piece was a very interesting and fortunate find. An ad was placed by a graphic design studio owning mock jerseys manufactured for their ads that ran on MLB Network. The company gave me a very generous deal considering the price they paid themselves for the jerseys to be made.

Since the jersey is custom made, it does not have any brand name tags attached. However, the quality and materials are definitely on the same degree or even higher than that of a licensed company. The material of the jersey is soft polyester with 3/4 length sleeves and wool felt navy blue fabric for the number/letters to replicate the 1932 season. in case you're wondering, I bought the Lou Gehrig on the same day as this one.

Although he has played for several other franchises and had great years with the New York Yankees, I've chosen to only cover his 1932 season for publishing reasons. That season also holds on of the most mysterious and disputed moments in baseball history when the Yankees played in the World Series.

Born in Baltimore, MD on 6 February 1895, George Herman "Babe" Ruth, Jr. started his MLB career with the Boston Red Sox as a pitcher winning three World Series championships in 1915, 1916, and 1918. In 1920, he was sold to the New York Yankees and a rivalry was born.

Batting in his primal years alongside Lou Gehrig, The Sultan of Swat would earn numerous home run awards and set records wearing pinstripes as well as earning the 1923 AL MVP and a spot in the 1933 All-Star Game. He would also collect four more World Series Championships in 1923, 1927, 1928, and his final one in 1932.

The 1932 World Series will live in infamy for many baseball fans and historians. In Game 3, Babe Ruth pointed towards centre field moments before hitting a home run out of the park. "The Called Shot" as it is now known is a disputed claim as to whether or not he was predicting the dinger or bantering with the opposing team's dugout. It would be his final hit and home run in a World Series game making the event more memorable. Regardless if it was a fluke or not, the New York Yankees went on to capture the championship in a four game sweep. At the end of the year, he belted 41 home runs with a .341 batting average and 137 runs batted in.

The Great Bambino would play two more seasons in with the New York Yankees, but his numbers fell indicating that he no longer had the power to continue as a player. He played his final season in the city he started his career, but with the Boston Braves. Shortly into the season, he retired after playing six games with that club.

Career Highlights and Achievements:
714 HR, 2220 RBI, .342 BA, 94-46 W-L record, 17 SO, 2.28 ERA, 2x All-Star [1933, 1934], 7x World Series Champion [1915, 1916, 1918, 1923, 1927, 1928, 1932], 12x AL HR Leader [1918-21, 1923-24, 1926-31], AL MVP [1923], AL ERA Leader [1916], AL Batting Average Leader [1924], .690 SLG%, 1.164 OPS%. National Baseball Hall of Fame inductee [1936], MLB All-Time Team [right fielder, 1997], MLB All-Century Team [1999].
On 13 June 1948, the New York Yankees retired #3 in his honour. Two awards were named after him as well; The Babe Ruth Award [originated in 1949] is given annually to the best performer in the World Series. Additionally, The Babe Ruth Home Run Award [originated in 1998] is given to the player with the most home runs in the regular season.

On 16 August 1948, just two months after his last appearance at Yankee Stadium, Babe Ruth passed away at the age of 53 due to cancer. Although a very controversial figure off the field, no other player owns the title of being the greatest baseball player of all time.

George Harrison x All Things Must Pass

Easily my favourite member from The Beatles, George Harrison's first solo album; All Things Must Pass, goes down as one of the greatest ever produced outshining the cornerstone members of his former band. Released in 1970, it was ranked 433rd on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. In my opinion, it's a little unjust - but lists are meant for great debate. I happened to purchase the remastered version for a pretty penny, but it was worth it.
